What we do

Our approach to your visit and possible treatments set us apart.  First we work hard to understand your experience.  We take the time to listen and work with you to develop a plan to achieve your health goals.

Our extensive medical training, including physical, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, enables us to understand your condition.  In this way we are similar to all physicians.  We distinguish ourselves by the time we give you and by the care with which we support you after and between visits.

What we do.

  • We diagnosis, treat and prevent illness.  For ourselves and with patients our goal is a healthy independent life well into aging.

  • We take a thorough history and perform all necessary physical exams.   We do pap smears, breast exams and all routine gynecological care.

  • We treat the individual not just the symptom. While you may come with an established diagnosis, your treatment will be specific for you, not your disease.

  • We help you adjust diet, lifestyle and exercise because these are the most powerful predictors for wellness into advanced aging.

  • We have on-site x-ray, ultrasound, venipuncture (blood draws), EKG and some laboratory testing.  As needed we order from others labs and other conventional diagnostic tests like mammograms, bone density tests, CT scans, MRI etc.

  • We also use labs unique to naturopathic medicine.  We utilize tools such as comprehensive nutritional, hormone, allergy and stool analysis to help us better understand the cause of your problem.

  • We prescribe medication, like antibiotics, when needed. We can prescribe many of the commonly prescribed drugs. We mostly use medications which are derived from natural substances to address the underlying cause of disease. These substances typically have fewer side effects than most conventional medications.

  • We help you plan the individual, strategic and economic use of supplements.  We specialize in the safe and effective use of botanical, hormonal, glandular and nutritional substances.  We are experts in blending conventional and natural medicines to best benefit the patient.

  • We help with insurance reimbursement.

  • We listen to you carefully and fully because what you say to us is the essential key to diagnosis and treatment

  • We teach health.  We concentrate on wellness rather than focusing on illness. One of the primary naturopathic principles is Docere, meaning doctor as teacher. We value the relationship that is fostered when patients understand what is going on with their health and what needs to be done to make and keep us well.

  • We make it easier for our patients to take responsibility for their own health. In this age of medicine, patients are rarely asked to be an active member of their healing process. Instead, patients are required to be bystanders as medication or surgery “does the work”.  Our patients are encouraged to be active in their healthcare choices.  We also help patients become more effective and satisfied in their relationships with the conventional medical community.

  • We offer the best of naturopathaic and conventional care under one roof.  Dr. Aagenes and Dr. Roush are leaders nationally in creating with Dr. Mark Ibsen of Urgent Care Plus the integration of naturopathic primary care with conventional urgent care.

Depending your need and your choice, you have immediate access to care from both conventional and naturopathic providers. We are a primary care naturopathic clinic operating with a conventional urgent care in overlapping spaces.  Providers from both clinics cooperate in your care as needed, and as you choose.  This kind of health care delivery is unique.  We are attracting national attention for this innovation.

At Natural Medicine Plus and Urgent Care Plus we are working right now to educate patients across the range of naturopathic and conventional choices.  We all work together to insure the success of the choices the patient makes. Health care is being delivered in a turbulent environment.  We can’t wait for someone else to make it better.  We’re working with our patients to make it better right now.
  • We communicate with and sometimes refer to practitioners outside our clinics to ensure the highest quality care for each patient.
Our role as primary care practitioners is to insure you are receiving the best level of care possible.  Therefore, we have established trusting relationships with other practitioners, both conventional and alternative, with whom we communicate with as needed.
