Family Medicine for Every Body

Still alive in naturopathic medicine is the old image of the comforting country doctor who knows us and our family and who is willing to visit our home when we are sick.  In naturopathic medicine this idea has not faded into memory and movies, not because it’s nostalgic, but because it’s good medicine.  Health conditions run in families.  Nothing more affects our health than what happens in our homes—nutritionally, genetically, emotionally.  The propensity to an active life style, or not, is born in our homes.  When you bring your whole family to one doctor that physician will have a deeper understanding of what ails and what can heal you.

Dr. Roush offers healthcare for the whole family.   As a primary care physician, he evaluates, treats, and manages a variety of acute and chronic conditions using the least toxic therapy and science based naturopathic medicines.  Some of the therapies Dr. Roush may use include: clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine, and pharmacology.

While most patients use Dr. Roush as their primary care provider, he also works well in collaboration with other physicians to treat specific needs of someone’s health. In this he serves as a naturopathic specialist.

Dr. Roush does annual physical exams, well child checks, and sports physicals.

Dr. Roush does house calls! He finds this to be useful for individuals who are unable to leave the house and for pediatric consultations when visiting in the home is more comfortable for the parent and child than coming to the office. Call our office to learn if this would be appropriate for you.

While concentrating her practice on women, Dr. Aagenes is always willing to do consultations with the families of women who are patients.  She sees many mothers, daughters and sisters.  Dr. Aagenes does not do house calls.

Naturopathic Medical Therapies

Clinical Nutrition: Nutrition is the building block of practically every tissue in our body, from our bones to our DNA.  Clinical nutrition includes using food as medicine and as prevention of disease. In addition, specific nutritional supplements can be used therapeutically or in combination with dietary changes.

Herbal medicine: Plant medicines have existed for centuries in many cultures. A number of modern drugs are based on healing plant properties.  Many plant substances are powerful medicines that are safe and effective when used properly. Botanical medicines are not benign and should be administered by trained professionals such as naturopathic physicians, educated on the potential side effects of botanical medicines combined with pharmaceutical prescriptions.

Homeopathy: A 200–year-old system of medicine based on the idea that like cures like. It is well designed to treat a person on the physical, mental and emotional levels.  This is a perfect intervention for children and is extremely safe.

Physical medicine: hands-on treatments such as therapeutic massage, hydrotherapy, joint manipulations, trigger point injections, prolotherapy, and therapeutic exercise.

Pharmacology: When needed, pharmaceutical intervention may be used for the best interest of the patient. Naturopathic doctors can prescribe many drugs in the state of Montana, including antibiotics.
